There are seven elements of art and they are line, shape, space, value, form, texture, and color. These elements are the building blocks of art. I found the one that was most important to pencil drawings was drawing shape for small kids.
All You need to do is provide a paper, pencil and an eraser to your kid and let them draw basic square, rectangle, circle.
